Home Interior Design IdeasIf you are thinking of redoing your home, chances are that you would like to think of some creative home interior design ideas that you can implement into the look of your home. You have many choices when it comes to decorating, but with paint, you can come up with many home interior design ideas.

Be Creative!

For thousands of years, paint has been used in one form or another, all for some form of decoration. When it comes to home interior design ideas, there are two main categories of things that you can paint: furniture, and walls.

Now, you obviously cannot just paint any kind of furniture that you own. If you did that, chances are that your home interior design ideas would end up with an overly decorative appearance. Rather, if you are skillful with a brush, consider painting wooden furniture.

Many people get some creative home interior design ideas by visiting craft fairs. If you have been to a craft fair, usually you will notice that there is at least one vendor that offers painted furniture. This painted furniture often comes in the form of chests, tables, and chairs.

If you are not particularly skillful at painting, then consider buying furniture that has already been painted at one of these craft fairs, or at a specialty furniture store. Sometimes, you can have the artisan paint whatever you want on your own pieces of furniture.

Another way that paint can be implemented into home interior design ideas is through the look of your wall. Painting a wall in whatever color you prefer is a welcome alternative to wallpapering, which is becoming outdated. You can paint the wall all one color, or you can also, with stencils, paint a border around the tope edge of the wall.

A home interior design idea that is unique and fun at the same time is using a sponge to create a unique pattern on an already-painted wall. All you have to do is choose a sponge, put some paint in a pan, dip the sponge in the paint, and apply the paint to the wall.

Remember, that if you are not used to painting, be sure to practice a little bit or hire a professional. You don’t want to waste money and paint! Painting really makes for a fun hobby, and makes for many great home interior design ideas.

Residential Interior Design Doesn’t Have to be Boring!

residential interior designIf you live in a residential area, chances are that the look of your and your neighbor’s homes is rather predictable, almost like the residential interior design reflected in movies about suburbia. However, with some know-how, you can make sure that your home isn’t an example of boring residential interior design.

About Residential Interior Design

Perhaps one of the most amusing things about residential interior design is that there are several different kinds, but within a neighborhood, almost all the houses might share the same look. There is no understandable reason for the residential interior design of a neighborhood to be so similar, but there are several plausible explanations.

The first explanation has to do with the model of the houses themselves. Many houses in certain neighborhoods have the same basic house structure according to whatever contractor developed the area.

The second explanation might have something to do with just plain imitation. For example, if some neighbors are gathered together at one house, their might be a particular look that many of the neighbors find appealing, and would thus like to implement in their own home. Of course, if the entire neighborhood has the same ideas, that can make for a very boring residential interior design.

So, what are some examples of boring residential interior design? Well, the room in the house that most people seem to have a similar look for is the family room. The family room is almost always comprised of a couch, an armchair or two, and that all-important television, usually part of an entertainment system.

If this is reminiscent of your own residential interior design, then perhaps you should consider making your family room look a bit different. After all, if you have a get-together with the neighbors, and everyone has the same kind of family room, people might forget that they aren’t in their own home!

Mix things up a bit, and make something else other than the television be the focal point of the family room, such as the fireplace, if you have one. Have more of an emphasis placed on people gathering together for conversation rather than just watching television. You could also eliminate the television from the family room altogether.

There are many other ways that you can change the boring residential interior design of you home. Consult decorating magazines for more ideas. When you’re done transforming your home, just watch out if your neighbors try to do the same thing!

Make Your Interior Design Ideas a Reality

You love to decorate, and as such you are always coming up with interior design ideas when you visit a family member or a friend’s home. Of course, you are also constantly thinking up interior design ideas for your own home as well. Stop just thinking, and start doing, because you can make your interior design ideas a reality.

How to Incorporate Your Interior Design Ideas Into the Look of Other People’s Homes

First of all, if you want to help family or friends with the look of their home, then you should be sure that your own home adequately expresses your interior design ideas. If you have a home that is boring in design, chances are a family member or friend wouldn’t be convinced that you could turn the look of their home into something interesting.

If you have been too busy to decorate your home in just the way that you want, then there is another way to make loved ones see the great interior design ideas that you have for their home. If you are good at drawing, draw a detailed sketch of a room that you would like to design in the way that it would look.

Or you can merge your own interior design ideas with the ideas that your loved ones found appealing from a design magazine. Whether it is for your own home or the home of a loved one, be sure that you plan down to the last detail any interior design idea that you have!

How to Incorporate Your Interior Design Ideas Into the Look of Your Home

So, you were looking at the wall of your child’s room, and you noticed that it looked rather boring, with nothing on it. Your child loves the jungle, so why not paint a mural of a jungle on the wall? This is an easy feat if you are a skilled painter, but if you are not, then consider hiring a professional painter to transform your child’s room, thanks to your interior design ideas.

You are looking at the basement of your home, and realize it would be so much nicer if it wasn’t cluttered with the refuse you have accumulated for years. Your interior design idea is to transform the basement into a game room for your children. This is as simple as getting some carpeting put in, the trash cleaned up, and favorite games placed in there. You could also add a television for the rest of the family.
